Recently, a conversation with a client led to the statement that “act is just our CRM.” I was really taken aback by that comment and I’d like to tell you why.
I have been teaching people about act software since 1999. You might think I’m blinded by the fact that I think act is great software. My positive opinion of act is most likely not for the reasons you suspect. I have always felt that act is just a tool, much like a hammer is a tool. With a hammer you can build great things. Act has allowed small business people, salespeople and entrepreneurs to buy an inexpensive tool that can help them achieve a great deal.
When I work with my clients I have never assumed that I’m just helping them with act, I have always believed that my end goal is to help them with their business.
Act is a Rolodex. Act is an organizational aid. Act can be a calendar. Act can be a total waste of time and energy if you are disorganized with your approach to act. With the proper knowledge and goals, what you can accomplish with act is unlimited. Act can be a secretary. Act can be your boss that assesses what you have accomplished. Act can tell you a story about yourself if you let it. Act can hold you accountable to yourself, your staff and the people important to you. Act can help you make sure that prospects and clients never slip through the cracks. Act can be your salesperson. Act can be a sales manager. Act can help you remember names of people you only see at holiday parties or special occasions.
If you have set goals, act can help you stay on track in your effort to accomplish those goals.
When my client made that statement it really hit me hard. The way I see act is completely different. I see act as a tool that allows my client to help her company stay on track by creating sales and profits for her company. It is not just the CRM! Act can help build things, just like a hammer. As a tool, if act can help you increase your sales that helps you, your employees, their families and the communities in which they live. It allows them to thrive and grow.
When I work with my clients I have never assumed that I’m just helping them with act, I have always believed that my end goal is to help them with their business. If you can use act to stay organized and increase sales for your organization, please don’t call it just a CRM, call it a great tool because it really is.
