So, an Act dialog box just popped up saying there is a new update for Act and you want to apply that update. Unfortunately, you must be an administrator.

Many Act users are small businesses or individuals and when a message pops up such as this message, it can be very confusing. What I never understood is why they don’t give you the solution to this message. If you are an individual using Act you are most likely the administrator of your computer. Therefore, you should be able to apply the update. Sometimes nothing is easy with computers.

Running Act as an administrator is a very simple fix in most cases.

If you get this message when using Act, either trying to register your software or applying an update, all you have to do is close Act and when you go to open it again simply right click on the Act icon and select run as an administrator. That’s it! Easy fix.
